There are a lot of options when it comes to adding solar panels to your home or business. However, before you can start reducing your carbon footprint and being more environmentally friendly with your energy use, you will have to make a decision on which solar panels are best for your home or business.  One of the main differences when it comes to various panels is their efficiency at storing energy. Here are a few of the advantages and disadvantages of the most popular types of solar panels used in solar systems for homes and businesses!

Monocrystalline Panels

These panels are known to conduct electricity at a much more efficient level and thus are great for areas with high temperatures as well as areas prone to lots of shade. The average efficiency range for these panels is around the 15-25% range. This means that these types of panels are able to produce more power than similar sized panels. While these are powerful and durable solar panels, they are also some of the most expensive on the market.

Polycrystalline Panels

With an efficiency range between 10-16%, these solar panels are a little bit less efficient than the higher-end models, but they are less expensive, as well. Finding themselves as the perfect middle ground, these solar panels are some of the most popular on the market.

Thin Film Panels

These panels are a little bit newer on the market and have an efficiency of 5-15%. While they have a lower efficiency level, they are good for areas that do not have a lot of space. These thin panels have a low cost and are lightweight and flexible, making them good for awkward locations. However, these panels do not have a long lifespan.
